Is there an age limit on swimwear?

Writer: undefined

Some people have a penchant for accumulating multiple shoes, purses, jeans or the perfect white t-shirt. I have always had an obsession for swimwear. One was, and is, never enough when packing for vacation - one a day, now that's more my comfort level. As I look to add to my collection for the upcoming resort season, I have been steering myself away from my traditional 2-piece purchases and have begun to question whether my selections are now age appropriate???

So here's my question......how old is too old to wear a 2-piece bathing suit? I'm not talking about the 2-piece involving a top that resembles a tank which carries down to your waist. I'm speaking about a full fledged, belly baring 2-piece.

I never considered there to be a 'cut off' or 'best before' date. However, was I approach my....ahem.....almost mid-40's I have to admit the question has crossed my mind. And so I seek the counsel of my fellow fashionistas and friends when I ask, "How old is too old? Is there an age limit on 2-piece swimwear?"

Some have said it's dependent on where you are.....Caribbean? Miami South Beach? French Riviera? Local community pool? Cottage dock? Neighbour's backyard pool party?

Others have said it depends on your level of comfort with your body and exposing all your bits to strangers or those closest to you.

Is it weird to wear a 2-piece around your kids or their friends? What about letting your love handles see some sun while hanging out with friends? Is a style change all that is required as we age - from low cut to higher waisted bottoms? Or is the 2-piece reserved for those without stretch marks, cellulite, flabby tummies or any evidence of motherhood or a well lived and loved life?

Looking forward to hearing back from you friends!
